Visitor management that starts at the gate
The resident's app is optional. The guard's screen is not.
What to evaluate before buying
- How many taps does a delivery entry take at peak hour?
- Does it work on the tablet the society already owns?
- Can the guard log an entry without a phone number for the visitor?
- Does the daily report show exits, or only entries?
- Can data be exported when the society changes vendor?
The peak hour test
Between seven and nine in the evening, the gate handles residents returning, food deliveries, grocery bags and guests. If a system adds ten seconds per entry, the guard stops using it and the paper register comes back. Time the flow before you sign a contract.
Approval without obstruction
Residents should be able to allow a visitor from a lock-screen notification. If approval requires unlocking, opening an app and navigating three screens, people will simply tell the guard to let everyone in.
Data ownership
Visitor logs belong to the society. Ask for export in a plain format, a defined retention period, and a written answer on where the data is stored. This is a due-diligence question, not a technical one.
Questions people ask
How many gates can it handle?
Each gate runs its own device and log. A society with two gates sees both in the same report.
Can we keep the paper register as backup?
You can, but a half-maintained paper register is worse than none because it creates a false record. Choose one and maintain it.
